Down memory lane
Yup, its just as I remember it. Brings back decades of memories! For people with good imaginations only.
The basics are there
I havent had the chance to test this extensively, but I did manage to get the diamonds, and then get lost in the maze of all alike. In the process I used a magic word, and a threatening little dwarf threw an axe at me, so this does appear to be a legitimate port.
Beautifully done port of a classic game!
I’ve play a couple of different versions on iOS and I’m so happy I found this one to replace ‘em. Two reasons for the 5 stars: First, it’s beautifully crafted. I like the idea of it taking place in a “book”, even though most of my experience with Adventure was from the ‘70s. I spent hours and hours (and hours…) playing it on the DEC LSI-11 RT-11 systems I worked on in the late 70’s. A terminal theme might add a bit of nostalgia to the app, but as I said, the book theme works extremely well and is very well executed. Second, perhaps most important, is keeping the text entry field and keyboard active. Many of the other apps don’t get how interactive the game really is, and if you need to be constantly tapping to bring up the keyboard, it really detracts from the game. For instance, just moving down the path with repeated direction commands becomes tedious if you have all the extra motions going to the text field and keyboard. This implementation is perfect - you can just keep sending commands and your fingers/thumbs can stay on the keyboard (hummm - like a terminal :) ). Thanks for a nice port of this classic.
Not bad!
Ive been almost all the way through the game, and just need to restart to get all the points, so this version seems to be bug-less! Two things to make it better: let us see our own commands, would be useful to see which directions weve already tried, and 2) no way to save and restore? Ive had to start over from the beginning when Im almost finished several times...
Classic, fun game! Needs "save"
I love this classic game! This app seems to follow the original very well. However, this definitely needs a "save game" feature! Add this and its five stars. Also as pointed out by another review, it would be nice if the screen log contained the previous input commands, including directions tried.
